Donor's Card of Helicopter Emergency Medical Service is a voluntary donor program run by ATE since 2003. The aim of this program is to introduce the public advantages and accessibility of Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in Slovakia, promote its opportunities and acquire resources for increasing the quality of helicopter rescue services.
Since the beginning of the program to date of August 31, 2022 the ATE donors have contributed to modernization of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service basses with the amount of 48,713.00 EUR. In recent years the Company has concentrated its investments especially to upgrading the emergency fleet.
To the Italian made Agusta A109K2 helicopters since 2014 3 Bell 429 helicopters have gradually been added and the latest additions in the emergency fleet are 4 EC 135 helicopters. The first one arrived to the base in Poprad in 2018 and the fourth in 2022.
Also with the assistance of donors the Company has purchased another medical equipment for the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, which is not part of mandatory equipment though, but which can be decisive in saving lives. Intraosseous drills used for alternative securing of vascular access have been gradually purchased for all seven bases. Within the last four years the automatic resuscitation units EasyPulse that are able to perform continuous compression of chest in case of cardiac arrest have been purchased. So far the last one – the fourth purchased in 2021 was intended for the HEMS base at Bratislava, where statistically there is the largest number of missions with cardiopulmonal resuscitations. All the medical equipment represents very effective help for air rescuers when saving and helping people in trouble.
Also thanks to our donors we can make progress and continuously increase the level of providing immediate medical care.
