AIR - TRANSPORT EUROPE, SPOL. Ltd. operates Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in seven operating centers in Slovakia and two in the Czech Republic. ATE has many years of experience in operating the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Currently, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service is on duty 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year.

HEMS is a part of integrated rescue system, in emergency it is available on the telephone numbers 112 and 155. HEMS Central Dispatch number is 18 155. ATE rescue crews usually help in mountain areas, forest terrains, and remote locations, at car accidents, floods or mass disasters. ATE Helicopters also often provide neonatology, transplants program and other inter hospital transports.

During the years 1994-2020 ATE has performed 30,557 HEMS missions and its helicopters flew more than 30,100 fly hours.

In 1998 ATE missions during the flooding in Slovakia were awarded by the Ministry of Interior of Slovak Republic and also by AIR AMBULANCE Journal in New York. Since 2004 ATE is a member of EHAC association (European HEMS & Air Ambulance Committee). In 2011 ATE has become the member of the International Commission for Rescue in the Mountains ICAR-CISA. Among V4 countries ATE has achieved the precedence in night flying with Night Vision Goggles.
